Let’s Move Outside! on Harborcreek’s Community Park Trail
One of the nicest aspects of the Let’s Move Outside! program is that it introduces us to locations in Erie County that we never knew existed, and gives us “permission” to explore fresh places that are just a short drive away.
Harborcreek Community Park offers baseball, football, and soccer fields, along with a playground, concessions, and a pleasant trail to hike, which is only a little more than a mile long. The park contains posted signs declaring that a $300 fine will be levied against visitors who don’t pick up after their dogs properly. No worries here. Nutmeg and Nora take the FlushDoggy bags wherever they go. Too bad they don’t know how to use them, and instead, expect Husband Jim and me to do all the dirty work.
The trail winds through the woods and alongside grapevines. Some sort of critter seemed to be walking along with us, because Nutmeg and Nora were going berserk trying to get off the trail and into the brush. Sorry girls. If we let go of you, I don’t know that we’d ever get you back.
The end of the trail dumps you into a clearing on the opposite side of the park from where you started, and within that clearing stands a strange, wooden structure. I have no idea what this thing is, so I took a picture of it. If anyone has a clue, please post a comment.
It was near dusk when we finished the trail and as we passed by one of the baseball diamonds, professional-looking field lights turned on, making quite an impression on Jim and me, because we have sat on many bleachers during the years when our son played ball in Little League and later in high school.
