A Beautiful Story for Easter

This morning, as I read the Sunday paper, I almost forgot to look at the Parade magazine, which was buried in between the store ads that I try to avoid. I’m glad I sought out the weekly insert today, because it contained the inspirational story of Stephanie Nielson, a mother of four who was severely burned, along with her husband, in a 2008 airplane crash.

After several months in a medically induced coma, Stephanie faced a long and painful recovery before she could get back to her life as a wife, mother, and blogger. During her recovery, perhaps nothing was as painful as the day her children saw her for the first time and were afraid of her. Still, somehow she managed to keep going, and eventually one day, through something as simple as reading a picture book, she was able to draw her children back in and show them that she was still their mom.

The article mentions that Stephanie is pregnant with her fifth child, but if you go to her blog, The NieNie Dialogues, you’ll see a little surprise! Here’s a link to Stephanie’s blog: http://nieniedialogues.com/

Be sure to check out the behind-the-scenes video of the Nielson’s Parade photo shoot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijlZHwJ795E&feature=player_embedded

You’ll find true beauty in Stephanie and how she rebuilt her life after devastation. I guess you could say she was reborn. This was a perfect story for Easter morning.
