China makes a lot of products.

“Made in China” used to connote cheaply made tin toys. You might be surprised at the number of “quality” goods that are made in other countries, especially China. A casual walk around my house revealed that the manufacture of most of the products occurred in China—even designer clothing from Ralph Lauren and pricey quality handbags from Brighton.

China is one of the world’s worst polluters.

China manufactures goods for a fraction of what it costs to manufacture goods in the US. This has kept prices down, but at the same time, the US and Western Europe have lost millions of manufacturing jobs to China. So the products that are manufactured overseas are cheaper, but more and more people can’t afford them.

Take a look at my quick audit of products in my house.
