“Lollipop”

Yesterday, we went on a three-hour horseback ride, and there was plenty to see. The landscape looks as if someone painted it with a brush. I took a few pictures from the back of my horse, Lollipop.

Lollipop, is not a very good looking horse. He has allergies, so his eyes run and he’s getting up in years. At first, I was disappointed that I got stuck with such an ugly horse. I had pictured something a lot more attractive.

I figured maybe the universe was trying to teach me some sort of lesson, though. And I think I was right. He’s got a great personality, which is what we often say about homely people, right?

Yesterday, he was very agitated because he wasn’t in the same group as his best friend, Comanche. So, whenever the other group was anywhere around, Lollipop would whinny so hard that his entire body would shake under me. Everyone was getting a kick out of his earnestness.

Lollipop does what I tell him to, but he lets me know when he’s got other ideas. When we were in the arena and he knew Comanche was nearby, he kept going to the gate asking to go out. It was so funny. When we trail ride, he sometimes likes to take little detours, which are allowed because this isn’t a nose-tail establishment.
