A colorful blanket of leaves along the trail.

Today, I’m thankful for:

  • legs that get me where I want to go,
  • eyes that show me the beauty of an imperfect world,
  • ears that allow me to hear laughter, music, and singing,
  • health and more than enough to eat every day,
  • hands that can type fast enough to capture most of what I have to say,
  • the gift of a good education and a brain to use it,
  • a job that runs out of hours before everything that needs to be done in a day,
  • a warm home in a land that’s free,
  • a loving family and fascinating friends,
  • two Cairn Terrier rescues who think I walk on water,
  • parents who are still together after nearly sixty years,
  • brothers who taught me how to hold my own in a man’s world,
  • a husband who supports most of my crazy ideas and is the voice of reason for the ones  that should never make it past the drawing board,
  • three grown children who taught me how to put others’ needs before my own and who have never stopped asking, why?
  • a day once a year to pause and think about all the things that really do go right in my world.
