I live on one side of the modest metropolis of Erie, PA, and commute daily to the other side of town. This involves I-90, which is usually the fastest way to get to or from work.
Waking up to a snow storm this morning, I bundled up in my warmest coat along with the hat and scarf Daughter Kasey crochetted for me as a Christmas present and headed off to work. When I got on I-90, I noticed a state trooper parked along the side of the road and figured he had stopped someone for driving too fast for conditions. But there was no other car in front of him. Hmm.

Here are some successive shots along the way. Check out the speedometer. . .

According to the news, the woman driving the car lost control, clipped a tractor trailer, and did some spinning. As you can tell, it was necessary to peel off the top of the car to free her. She has “moderate” injuries.

You can read about the accident here: http://www.goerie.com/article/20120113/NEWS02/301139888/One-hurt-in-crash-on-Interstate-90-eastbound

Cruising along at 43 mph!
We’re in for some winter weather over the next day or so. Read about it here. http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/erie-pa/16501/watches-warnings/330296
Sounds like a good weekend to stay indoors and do some organizing around the house.
[2026 note: So what did I do when I got to work? Late? I wrote this blog post. I can say that because I don’t work there anymore. Maybe I was a little shaken up and needed this to re-center myself and do a really great job for the rest of the day. So glad to be retired!]
