Comes the dawn

Depending on our destination, we find ourselves on one of three airlines: US Airways, Delta, or United (previously Continental). If we’re flying US Air, we connect in Philadelphia, a flight of more than 90 minutes from Erie, PA. The flight attendant announces that because of the short duration of the flight, there will be no beverage service.

Today, we flew United from Phoenix, connecting in Cleveland. The pilot and the flight attendant joked about the long flight of 25 minutes. But guess what? The United flight attendant managed to provide beverage service in that short period of time.

I don’t usually partake in airline food or beverages, preferring to bring my own onboard, but I thought it was rather amusing that United and US Airways have different ideas about how long it takes to serve beverages on an airplane.

[2026 note: We didn’t know how good we had it in 2012]
