100 Happy Days Challenge

What’s this happiness thing all about?

Well, one recent, late-summer evening, I was searching for positive or useful content to Tweet (@annsilverthorn), and as you know, finding positive news can be quite a challenge.

So, I Googled the word, “happy,” and found numerous results related to Pharrell’s catchy tune, which I love, but found on page four, “100 Happy Days.” Clicking the link, I was faced with the question, “Can you be happy for 100 days in a row?” Intrigued, I Googled the site to see what it was all about.

It seems that Dmitry Golubnichy, a Ukrainian living in Switzerland, created the hashtag in late 2013, because although his life was good, he had fallen into a slump. He challenged himself to post one picture a day of something that made him happy for 100 days on Instagram. At first he posted just one picture a day, but he soon found himself posting 10 pictures a day, and 50 days into the project, his life had changed. He was happy.

I consider myself a pretty happy person, but I’ve found myself increasingly dismayed by all the sadness and anger around the world. To counterbalance the negativity, I have taken up the 100 Happy Day challenge, and maybe you will, too . . .

I’ve created a gallery under the photos section of this Website where I explain the challenge and will be collecting my 100 days of happiness. Here’s a link: http://annsilverthorn.com/index.php/photos/100-happy-days/
