Scenes from My Winter Commute
I live on one side of the modest metropolis of Erie, PA, and commute daily to the other side of town. This involves I-90, which is usually the fastest way to get to or from work.
Waking up to a snow storm this morning, I bundled up in my warmest coat along with the hat and scarf Daughter Kasey crochetted for me as a Christmas present and headed off to work. When I got on I-90, I noticed a state trooper parked along the side of the road and figured he had stopped someone for driving too fast for conditions. But there was no other car in front of him. Hmm.
A bit up the road, I saw another state trooper facing the wrong direction, accompanied by some flares.
Then some flares alone.
Here are some successive shots along the way. Check out the speedometer. . .
Here’s the car in question.
Apparently, the woman driving the car lost control, clipped a tractor trailer, and did some spinning. As you can tell, it was necessary to peel off the top of the car to free her. She has “moderate” injuries.
Here’s the tractor trailer that was involved. The woman who clipped it is lucky that her injuries arent much worse.

Here’s what the rest of my commute looked like this morning.
We’re in for some winter weather over the next day or so. Read about it here. http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/erie-pa/16501/watches-warnings/330296
Sounds like a good weekend to stay indoors and do some organizing around the house.
