RecyclErie: Too Good to Pass Up
A couple of days ago, I shared my experience at the composting workshop with you. The workshop didn’t just cover composting, though. We also learned about a program called RecyclErie that every area business should look into. It’s free, and it can help reduce trash-hauling expenses for businesses, including restaurants.
Did you know that 80% of the trash generated by a bar or restaurant can be recycled? That’s what Matt Pluta, environmentERIE program manager, says, and he’s got just the solution to help area businesses comply with Act 101, Pennsylvania’s waste reduction act.
RecyclErie brings together businesses and a waste hauler that recycles, in addition to providing incentives and employee training. The incentives include two free indoor recycle bins, two desk-side recycle bins, a certificate of participation, a window decal, free drink coasters, and free advertising.
Participating business are called RecyclErie Crew Members, and nearly 50 area businesses have already signed up including: UPMC Hamot YMCA, Family First Sports Park, Fairview High School, and the Sheraton Bayfront Bar & Grill.
It seems obvious that the real value of RecyclErie comes in the form of reduced trash-hauling costs and free training for employees. Call environmentERIE at 814-835-8069 to get started.
