Do you use Snapchat? I didn’t. Until today.

You might be asking what Snapchat is. It’s an app for your phone that uses your camera and allows you to share photos and videos with your friends. These images disappear a few seconds after they’re shared.

This technology has been very popular with the younger crowd, but now Snapchat has introduced something pretty cool for everyone, called “Discover.” You’ll find lots of easily accessible info and stories on its channels.

Here are seven things to know about Snapchat Discover that will help you decide if you want to give it a try.

  1. What is it? Discover consists of 11 channels and a Snapchat channel that each contain 5-10 stories (photos, videos, & text) refreshed every 24 hours.
  1. Current Snapchat Discover Channels are: CNN, Comedy Central, Cosmopolitan, Daily Mail, ESPN, Food Network, National Geographic, People, Vice, Yahoo! News, and Warner Music Group.
  1. You’ll need to download the free Snapchat app from the Apple App Store or Google Play (or update your existing Snapchat) to use Discover.
  1. To get to Discover, just tap the circle at the top right-hand side of the Stories screen or swipe left from that screen. This takes you to the launch screen for the 12 different channels.
  1. Tap a channel to see its content. Once on a publisher’s channel, swipe left to get to each story. If you want to know more about that particular story, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get the text and more photos.
  1. There are some ads, but not a ridiculous amount of them.
  1. All of these photos, video, and text will use your cellphone’s data allowance, if you’renot on Wi-Fi.

Now, I have a question for Snapchat. If you find a story you like, how do you share it with your friends? I haven’t figured that out yet and can’t seem to find anything about it on Snapchat’s Website or anywhere else.

So there you have it. Seven bits of info about Snapchat Discover. If you’re an information junkie, like me, you will really enjoy this app. Let me know what you think (and if you find out how to share content).
